Are you finding yourself struggling to keep up with your daily vegetable and fruit intake? Try a smoothie! Here are 4 reasons you should blend one up today, and a recipe for a delicious fruit smoothie.
1. Great for adding supplements
When you’re making a smoothie, you can add a spoonful of popular superfoods, such as hemp protein powder, maca root powder, or spirulina. These are supplements that you wouldn’t necessarily add to a glass of juice, as they’d creature a texture change.
2. Fills you up
You can expect a smoothie to keep you feeling full for up to three hours, due to the density of the fiber. Oftentimes, smoothies are consumed as meal replacements.
3. Cleanses the body
As with juicing, the fiber found in smoothies does wonders for regularity in the bathroom.
4. A gateway to better health
Let’s face it – most people already have some sort of blender in their kitchen. This makes it easy enough for a beginner in the field of optimal health to get started.
2 navel oranges, peeled and pitted, cut into chunks
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen raspberries
2 teaspoons chia seeds
Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. After you pour the smoothie in a glass, be sure to run the blender under tap water with a mild soap for fast and easy clean-up.
