Newly-retired President Paul Byrne has taken Precor from a $20 million to a $400 million fitness equipment maker. As Byrne steps down and Rob Barker takes over as president, both discussed the growth of the company and the future of the fitness industry with a local Seattle television station.
“Stepping away will be difficult, but I’m very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish here,” Byrne said.
Those accomplishments include things like the Adaptive Motion Trainer® and Preva® Networked Fitness, the latter of which has helped the company record more than 40 million user workouts in just two and a half years. Both are prime examples of what the future of the fitness industry holds.
“There’s this big convergence right now of digital and hardware,” Barker, who was key in growing the Precor brand internationally, said. “So managing our way through that and leading that is going to be an exciting challenge for us.”
