We’re delighted to introduce our new Precor Master Coaches, who will be delivering AMT TeamFit and supporting Queenax Foundational Courses. We’ve put together a small blog series to learn a little bit more about them. Please allow us to introduce Gavin Frecklington.
Tell us a bit about yourself…
My name is Gavin Frecklington and I live in Basingstoke, Hampshire. I am a Personal Trainer, a Strength and Conditioning Coach, a Pilates and Spinning Instructor and I run my own business. Alongside this, I am currently studying for a Masters Degree in Strength and Conditioning at St Mary’s University.
What got you into fitness?
As a child, I loved participating in sports. Over time, I became curious about how the human body functions and developed an interest in improving my own physical ability and the capabilities of others. As a result of this interest, I became a personal trainer and gained the privilege of teaching other people on a daily basis.
How many years have you been involved in the fitness industry?
I’ve been involved in the fitness industry for 14 years.
What fitness certifications do you hold?
- YMCA Level 3 – Personal Training
- Post Graduate Diploma (London Met University) – Biomechanics Coaching
- UK Strength and Conditioning Accredited
- Masters Degree (third year student) – Strength and Conditioning
Why did you want to be a Precor Master Coach?
I was drawn to Precor because of its position as a leading fitness education provider and its ability to develop and become better at what it does. I think it is refreshing that, despite being a successful business, Precor cares both about the end product and the people using it.
What is your favourite piece of Precor equipment and why?
The AMT. It is a great versatile machine that allows anyone from professional athletes to individuals with very low levels of fitness, to use it. It enables more variety than standard CV equipment and it makes training more engaging and interesting.
What is your favourite move to do on Queenax equipment?
I always enjoy using the bars to test my strength with my body weight. Moving your body defines what fitness means to me.
Tell us about your favourite fitness memory when you were able to help a client reach and/or exceed his or her fitness goals.
I get the privilege of helping people to achieve their goals on a daily basis and, more importantly, I get to help them improve their quality of life. My favourite memory is when I helped a client who had experienced a deterioration in both his physical and mental health. After a few training sessions, the client began to develop his old drive, passion and determination for life again. To know that I may have contributed to this change and to have helped and inspired this person was amazing. It gave me great job satisfaction.
What’s your favourite fitness mantra?
Strive for progress not perfection.
What’s your favourite movie (fitness related or not)?
Rocky 1-5, Gladiator, Top Gun and anything with Will Ferrell in it.
Give us a random fun fact about yourself!
I’m the worst dancer I know but I’ll always give it my best shot!
