GOODWOOD LEAD THE WAY
The Health Club located within the Goodwood Hotel, which is part of the prestigious Goodwood Estate in the Sussex Downs, has invested in its fitness equipment by updating its offering and refurbished the 2,000 member gym facilities with a view to retaining existing members and attracting new ones.
The 1,725 sq ft gym’s strength and spinning kit needed upgrading and has been replaced with state-of-the-art Precor equipment including fifteen Spinner® RALLY bikes, five Vitality Series Selectorised single station units, and three Vitality Series Selectorised dual use stations. New cardiovascular machines have also been installed, all showcasing the new P82 console.Â
Featuring an aluminium frame, along with show stopping aesthetics, the top-of-the-range Spinner® RALLY is designed to suit a wide range of riders while providing a personalised experience, with geometry and adjustments. Each bike is fitted with an easy-to-read Spinning® Studio console that automatically pairs with any ANT+™ compatible heart rate monitor. The console also features a large backlit display indicating cadence (pedal RPM), heart rate/pulse, time, distance and calories along with a low battery indicator.
The Goodwood Health Club has also updated the gym’s cardiovascular offering, with the fitness suite now featuring six Experience Series Next-Generation treadmills, three Adaptive Motion Trainers with Open Stride, as well as upright and recumbent bikes, all showcasing the recently launched P82 console. The new console features an Android operating system, includes automatic free, seamless software updates when networked, extra fast processing speeds, embedded WiFi, Bluetooth and NFC technology, and is designed to allow exercisers to keep their head, neck and shoulders in an upright and natural position.
Two Spinning® master classes are due to take place (at the end of August) with a Spinner® Master Instructor to launch the refurbished facilities. The gym also benefits from new flooring, lighting and a paint refresh.
Jen Evans-Brewer, Health Club and Spa Manager at the Goodwood Hotel, comments: “Our strength offering in the gym was in need of upgrading. As we have purchased Precor equipment previously and been extremely happy with how it performed and what it offered our guests and members, we decided to update all the equipment so they could benefit from the new P82 console and a cohesive look across the fitness suite. We also decided to change all of our Spinning® bikes after seeing the new Precor Spinner® range at the IFS launch in Blackpool. We were amazed with the quality of the bikes and bought the top-of-the range Spinner® Rally’s, as they have the highest specification. Future plans are also in the pipeline to extend the facilities to include dedicated PT training areas, which will help us focus on secondary revenue generation.”
The Health Club also features The Waterbeach Spa rooms, which offers both traditional and holistic treatments, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room and whirlpool spa, and offers a number of different memberships incorporating gym usage combined with other activities, such as golf and the use of two PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) championship courses, and one that offers outdoor boot camp sessions.
The hotel is currently looking at the synergies between their sports packages and Precor’s parent company, Amer Sports, and investigating a partnership in order to maximise its offering to guests and members across the board.
