Careys Manor Hotel and SenSpa benefits from new state-of-the-art fitness equipment
Set in the magnificent New Forest National Park, the four star/4* Careys Manor Hotel and SenSpa in Brockenhurst has benefitted from new gym equipment.
Part of the renowned, award-winning 22,000 sq ft SenSpa, the 1,200 sq ft fitness facility showcases nine Precor cardiovascular pieces all featuring Preva networked fitness, six Discovery Series Selectorised strength machines, along with two Icarian benches and two Concept 2 rowers.
Sean Hincks, Operations Manager at SenSpa explains: “We were looking to replace our existing equipment with a newer more technologically advanced system and Precor was the perfect option. The equipment features Preva, a cloud-based platform which incorporates a suite of tools that will help us to achieve our business objectives, and also provides us with the ability to engage with our members to drive their fitness goals and aid retention. Members are very happy with the new equipment. They love the technology and the fact that everything is easy to use and the Adaptive Motion Trainer with Open Stride (AMT) has already become a firm favourite.”
With an already impressive 75% retention rate, the hotel aims to use Preva to set increased goals for members and to track and reward results. It will also be used as a retention tool with the aim of recognising and intervening with those members that may potentially leave.
Hincks comments: “The gym was shortlisted as a finalist in ‘the best health club’ category in the 2015 National Fitness Awards and with the new Precor kit we are hopeful that we will do even better in 2016.”
The authentic Thai spa was Voted ‘Best Spa in the South East’ for the fourth year in a row in 2015 and as well as the state-of-the art-gym, boasts a 14 metre UV swimming pool overlooking a tranquil Zen garden, a large hydrotherapy pool, a herbal sauna and a crystal steam room kept at constant temperatures of around 45-48oC featuring a large crystal of Bohemian Amethyst known for its energising properties.
Guests and members can also soothe muscles in a Laconicum, a dry sauna, relax under twinkling lights on heated loungers in the Tepiderium or soothe skin and cool down with crushed ice or use the cold water from the kouble douche bucket (wooden bucket) that is suspended from the ceiling in the Ice Room.
The spa also boasts a Rhassoul Mud room - a mosaic private steam chamber for two where guests sit on heated seats and are covered in mud followed with a gentle spray of lavender infused steam and fine water, Hammam rooms featuring heated mosaic slabs where hydrotherapy treatments combining a relaxing body polish and massage take place, as well as relaxation and quiet rooms. A multitude of showers are available such as Vichy Showers that use a relaxing series of water jets directed along the spine to ease tension, Health showers with body jets to encourage lymphatic drainage, and additional experience showers, each with light and sound to give a unique sensation such as a warm tropical rainforest, a refreshing and invigorating cold sea storm or ice storm.
Yoga, Pilates and circuit training classes take place in the Thai Temple Studio and the Spa also has 18 luxurious treatment rooms along with a Thai Zen garden restaurant.
Justin Smith, Head of UK at Precor comments: “The equipment in the gym needed updating and the recent installation of the technologically advanced Precor machines perfectly complements the luxurious ambiance of the SenSpa and provides members with a top-of-the range workout.”
