Anytime Fitness Bermondsey and Precor: Designing a partnership for success

From the moment Aary Walia decided to open his first Anytime Fitness gym with Precor equipment, he knew he’d made the right decision.

The 24-year-old entrepreneur’s research into finding the right supplier for his new 7,000 sq ft Anytime Fitness gym in southeast London had been meticulous. Months of research focused on finding the perfect balance of reliability, aesthetics and biomechanics, supported by knowledgeable and professional people, ended when he spoke to Precor.

After working collaboratively with the Precor team on an optimal layout and design for a premium and inclusive user experience, the Bermondsey facility opened its doors in December 2024.

The gym features more than 60 pieces of Precor equipment, including a top-of-the-range cardio selection, comprising four ellipticals, six treadmills and three StairClimbers, and two bikes, all equipped with state-of-the-art P94 and P84 touchscreen consoles. Providing members with the perfect blend of performance, fitness and entertainment. The range, all fitted with touchscreen Chromecast for users’ entertainment and learning, is completed by recumbent and upright bikes.

The comprehensive and easy-to-maintain strength range includes more than 30 pieces of Resolute selectorised and Discovery plate loaded equipment, plus benches and racks. All complemented by the precision biomechanics of the Glutebuilder Hip Thrust Elite, Pendulum Kickback and Dual 45-Degree Hip Extension.

The Glutebuilder equipment is scientifically designed to create exact motion paths with smooth, constant resistance for effective workouts through various preloaded strength points that work glutes, legs and hips. Multiple adjustment points allow users to find the perfect, bespoke fit and range of motion.

Precor: Built to last and easy to maintain

Aary says: Going into the gym industry was a step into the unknown as I had a background in finance. I had no preconceptions about gym equipment until I met the Precor team.

After visiting a newly installed Precor site in Cardiff where he was “blown away” by the offering, a chance stop on his way home at an Anytime Fitness gym near Bristol convinced him of Precor’s end-to-end service commitment and reliability.

“The equipment was 15 years old and still performing perfectly except for one cable that was replaced within 24 hours by Precor”, he adds.

As he delved deeper into his research, the robust construction, precision biomechanics, and sleek versatility of the equipment convinced him to choose Precor.

Precor’s consultative approach

The Precor design team began the partnership with a detailed assessment of the venue’s natural space while also considering the requirements of the members and their physical journey through the gym.

A virtual walkthrough of the location showing what each piece of equipment would look like and where it would be best placed brought the installation to life during both the consultation and initial marketing phases.

“We wanted to make a great first impression for both experienced users and new users who hadn’t been to a gym for years”, he adds.

The intuitive format of all the equipment, supported by QR code-led videos to show first-time users how to get started, were other crucial factors.

Creating the wow factor

The tall, high-end, stylish and simple-to-use Resolute Multi-Stations are also a centrepiece of the gym, that Aary says offers his members—evenly split between male and female—a consistent sense of quality and performance.

Initial response to the Anytime Fitness gym and its top-level Precor ranges has been a revelation, with membership reaching over 1,000 within the first six months of opening.
